From Business to Baby

“If life were predictable, it would cease to be life, and be without flavour.” - Eleanor Roosevelt

Runner of a small online business, cat owner of 2 gorgeous fur babies, first time mummy-to-be, avid cook (when not under pressure!), globetrotter and lover of anything Disney!

Mix all these together, and what do you get?! The crazy and exhilarating life of my family and I, which I’ll be happily sharing with you, one word at a time.

But who said life was easy right? With our little bundle of joy making a grand entrance in late April, our main hobbies recently have been prepping the little bub’s nursery (The Lion King theme, in case you were wondering).

Not only that, but any spare moment we have, has been taken up by doctors appointments, antenatal classes, maternity clothes shopping, or just baby buying in general, all whilst running a small online business, and maintaining a social life!

If someone had looked through a crystal ball 10 years ago, after completing my Creative Arts Degree at Macquarie University, and told me that I’d be running an online business from home with my husband, I would’ve laughed in their face.

Economics or business studies were never something that interested me at school. In fact, I could think of nothing worse than choosing any of these subjects as one of my majors! Fast forward to October 2015 when we launched our company 1K Words, and this is now my life… and I absolutely love it!

I don’t want to give you the wrong idea though... my life isn’t all about work and computers. Spending time with my family is a top priority for me, and my 2 beautiful cats make it just that bit more exciting, as well as my husband Mark of course!

Having grown up in a household full of cats (mum currently has 3), I was devastated to realise that I couldn’t actually take them with me when I got married and moved out in November 2013.

I wouldn’t take a stand for such nonsense though, and can proudly say, it took only 4 weeks after tying the knot, to convince hubby to adopt Maxwell, our precious little ragdoll. And if you thought one cat wasn’t enough, Mason (our black Halloween cat as we call him) was introduced 2 years later.

So what else does she do besides the above you may be asking?…. To put it plain and simple, cook! I’m no princess when it comes to food, however coming from an Italian/Greek background, I know good food when I see it, or better yet, eat it!

Most of my recipes are complete guess work, which is the way I like it, but I do have my mum to thank in the pasta sauce department. I can proudly say, most of my creations haven’t been complete disasters according to Mark. Even if dinner has been completely burnt to the crisp, he will still tell me the meal was the best he ever had. Bless him!

Well, I hope you’re as excited as I am, and this has given you a little insight into what is yet to come!

So if you’re a girlboss like myself who is passionate about family, love, travel and food, why not take a chance, and join me on this incredible journey I call life. I’d absolutely love to have you on board with me!

Hi Natasha!

Would love to see a bit of an ongoing blog post about the growth/progress of your newest little addition to the family. It would be wonderful to see how you all grow together (and hopefully find some sanity saving tips to share along the way)… Maybe you could call it “From little things, big things grow” 💛
